This is the first year we decided to buy the tree early, our usual practice was to get one on the 20-something of December to take advantage of the discount the store would give to clear stock. If we are lucky, we would still be able to pick and choose fresh and bushy trees from the left-over crates. But we weren't all the time that lucky. I remembered we ended up having to buy a plastic tree one year because there were no more fresh ones left!
Bart carefully crowns the tree with the golden star, with daddy steadying him. You can see I am telling the truth when I said Christophe always buys the tallest (and bushiest) tree. This tree is so tall, we had to saw off more than 50cm of its tip or it would be bent under our high ceiling.
To have the tree home early this year has many advantages. We gave ourselves more time to decorate it, the fresh scent that it emits instantly warms up our moods for the day, the presence of it in the living room reminds the children that Christmas is really nearing, the tree itself is a large decorative Christmas ornament that it gladly takes centre-stage, it automatically creates an activity to occupy the spare time of the children, each making their own little ornaments to hang on the tree, and pulling out old toys and books to wrap so they could place several presents under the tree!
This tree is decorated by 10 people! My family of 6, plus my sissies Zoe and Caroline's family!
The cut-off tip finds itself a cozy corner, sitting amongst boxes of nuts, cookies and self-made ornaments by the boys from school.
