Kindergarten, Finally!

It didn't take long for Johann to warm up to his new environment. The teacher assistant knew what to do to engage his attention. The children come in by batches per week. Johann, together with 3 others, is among the first batch. In the next few weeks until next January, there will be more new children joining his group.

Last Monday (6.12.10) was a special day in 2 ways. It was St. Nikolaus day and it was Johann's first day of kindergarten in Germany. It was a long wait, close to half a year, for him to resume his German kindergarten journey since we left Malaysia. Christophe, with lots of help from his mother, had tried enrolling him into six nearby kindergartens, public and private, before we were even here, but to no avail. All were full.

All the staff are very friendly and professional. There are three groups and Johann is in the yellow group. Each group is assigned one teacher and one assistant. The kindergarten stops its intake when each group reaches 25 children.

Fortunately for us, there is a new kindergarten just next to Enzian and Ludwig's school that is due to open for operation in December. Johann's information was sent in very early to help us secure a space for him.

Johann has since attended 3 days of kindergarten and is loving it so much that he requests to stay longer every time I fetch him at 1pm. I hope it continues to stay this way.
