Bubbles and Dreams

I have always loved bubbles.  Seeing bubbles floating in the air, glimmering in the sunlight, displaying rainbow colours in itself.  They are just so beautiful.  Each bubble gives me joy and hope, and when they burst, they make me want to quickly dip my bubble stick in the liquid to create more joys and hopes... I stop only when I get dizzy from blowing.  But I quickly start again when I feel better, which doesn't take too long.

Bubbles are like our childhood dreams.  When we daydream, we always look up, not down.  Just like the bubbles floating upwards.  The sparkle in our eyes when we hope, is like the glimmer of the bubble.  We dreamed many dreams, every dream we dreamed seemed so plausible when we were little.  We dreamed of becoming a policeman, because they are the good guys and they catch the bad ones.  We dreamed of becoming a teacher, because they seem to know everything and we want to know everything too.  We dreamed of becoming an actor, because they always look good, are famous and earn good money.

Our dreams changed every time we are influenced even by the slightest change in our growing up surroundings, just like how the bubbles are under the complete control of wind direction.  Every dream that burst let in disappointment, some big, some small.  We continued to dream as we grow older, but the dreams are reduced, altered, less innocent, more pragmatic.  As more bubbles burst, we tried catching up by creating more.  However, at a certain point of time, we get tired, we get dizzy.  Some of us stop dreaming entirely.  Some of us take a break before we start again.  Some of us are relentless, we stay focused and grit our teeth, we want to make our dreams come true.

How many of us are living our dreams?  How many of us are living in our dreams?  How many of us have long forgotten what our first dreams were?  How many of us have since given up on dreaming?  How many of us are still dreaming?  How many of us are catching up on our dreams?  How many of us are discouraging our children from dreaming?  How many of us are doing the opposite?  How many of us are working to make our dreams come true?  How many of us are helping others fulfilling their dreams?

Bubbles and dreams.  Thoughts to ponder.
