The Christmas Tree

Shopping for a Christmas tree is a different experience here. In Singapore or Malaysia, the only place that sells fresh Christmas trees is Ikea. The trees are also all wrapped up in a mesh for shipping purposes, so we could not really see how the trees really look like until we remove the mesh.

So many places sell the trees here, and there are so many different types of Christmas trees. The trees are all in hibernation, due to the cold temperatures, and they are all standing tall in a strong base with their branches proudly spreading out. When a tree is chosen, the seller will then wrap the tree up for easy transportation.

If the tree is placed indoors, it will spring to life from the heaters in the house and emits its signature Christmas tree smell. Mmm... This tree is decorated by Christophe and the boys, except Ludwig and I. Presents were put all around the tree, shouting to the children to, "Come, please open us up!"

After dinner, the boys were finally allowed to open their presents from the Weihnachtsmann (Santa Claus). They still believe the presents come not from us, that is, until I unintentionally spilled the beans a few days later. Why didn't I keep my mouth shut? Sigh!

One can never estimate the wonders of unwrapping presents. The mess on the floor is directly proportional to their level of excitement. Even that listless Ludwig suddenly felt better.
