My 4th graders are taking bicycle riding lessons from the traffic police. In fact, not just my 4th graders. It is the entire country's 4th graders, well at least in Bavaria. It is a requirement that they take both practical and theory lessons, and after that, go for their theory and practical examinations. When they pass, they will be issued a licence by the traffic police department. A licence to ride bicycle. Cool, huh?
They learn all about traffic rules, traffic signs, traffic safety, which side of the road they should be riding their bicycles on. No wonder the children here are so street smart, literally. It starts young.
Today, Enzian and Ludwig are taking their first practical lesson, after attending a few theory classes. They are so excited about it. I can't wait for them to come home and tell me how it goes.
